- Content as follows "Dear Sir, pardon me for not answering your note of the 23 OCT. before. I cannot lay hands ona letter or autograph of Sir Francis Hincks. I send you my photograph and signature. Yours faithfully John A. MacDonald"
- Letter is written on the letterhead of the Canadian government 's Minister of Railways & Canals Canada Ottawa
- At the time the letter was written MacDonald was Prime Minister as well as acting Minister of Railways and Canals
- The other party mentioned in the letter is Sir Francis Hincks, MacDonald's Minister of Finance 1869-1873 as well as Premier of Canada West prior to Canada's 1867 Confederation
- Authenticated by JSA with a full LOA
- Great condition; two original folding creases are faint but visible. Small hole near the top edge and edges appear to be carefully trimmed including a small, clean residual tear on the left edge. Content and autograph are legible and clear with little to no smudging or bleeding.
