- Content of letter refers to a circus illegally using Buffalo Bill's name for promotional purposes, and was written 6 months before Cody's death
- The letter reads as follows: "Gloversville N.Y., July 31, 1916
My Dear Hersey,
I am mailing you the photographs you sent me today. I hardly know what to suggest. Without it can be proven that his advertising is illegally misleading. He indirectly trying [sic] to lead the public to infer that I am personally with the Sells-Floto circus. I don't know the law. Would my contract with Miller + Arlington give him a right to mislead? Have you a copy of my contract with Miller + Arlington?

- The Miller and Arlington referred to in the letter are George Arlington, Edward Arlington and Joseph C. Miller - the show's general manager, general agent and director, respectively.
- Excellent condition; page is mounted to scrapbook page which was removed carefully from the rest of the scrapbook. Small tear on the letter on the right edge as well as some notable creasing along the right edge, but writing and autograph are unaffected. Original folding creases on the page are visible but light. Writing and autograph present very well with no visible smudging, bleeding or fading. 1916 is written in blue pencil on the right side of the page in an unknown hand.
