- 1989 World Series game 3 full unused ticket for game played at Candlestick Park in San Francisco between the SF Giants and the Oakland Athletics. This game is also referred to as the earthquake game due to the Loma Prieta earthquake that struck about 30 minutes before game 3 was originally set to begin
- The earthquake struck on October 17th, 1989 at 5:04 p.m. Game 3 was set to begin at 5:35 p.m. It was the first major earthquake in the Unites States to be broadcast on live television
- Experts credit the timing of the World Series as a fortunate break that prevented massive loss of life in the region. Many people on both sides of the Bay had left work early or were staying late to participate in after-work viewing parties, reducing the traffic that otherwise would have been on the collapsed freeways at 5:04 p.m. on a Tuesday
- Unfortunately 57 people lost their lives as a direct result of the earthquake
- The earthquake resulted in a 10-day delay for the start of Game 3. Candlestick park was found to have only sustained minor damage during the quake
- Oakland would go on to beat the Giants 13-7 and eventually sweep the series to become World Series Champions
