Boxing legend Joe Louis 1947 First Edition hard cover autobiography neatly signed

Joe Louis, Detroit’s “Brown Bomber,” dominated the sport of boxing during the 1930s and 40s, holding the heavyweight title for 12 years and successfully defending it a record 25 times. In 1936, Louis took on onetime German heavyweight champion Max Schmeling, who gave Louis a terrible 12-round beating-handing him his first professional defeat. The following year Louis beat Braddock for the heavyweight championship, but he refused to consider himself world champion until had beaten Schmeling. The Schmeling rematch was the most publicized and symbolic fight of the 20th century. In a little over two minutes of the first round, Louis annihilated Schmeling with a vicious rain of 55 all-but-unanswered punches. In his autobiography, “Louis reveals many hitherto unknown facts in his life story and dispels many false impressions which have arisen concerning his life and career.” He devotes an entire chapter to the Schmeling rematch
