- The 1965 NFL Championship Game was the 33rd championship game for the National Football League (NFL) played at Lambeau Field. This was the first NFL championship game played in January, as well as the first televised in color and the last played prior to the Super Bowl era. It would be staged four more times as a qualifier for the Super Bowl before being replaced with the NFC championship game post-merger. The Packers, coached by Vince Lombardi, featured Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, Jim Taylor (MVP of the game), and Carroll Dale, defeated the Browns 23-12 to win their ninth NFL title. For Cleveland, this would be Jim Brown's final NFL game
