- The Toronto Maple Leafs travelled by train to a season opening game in Montreal on October 3rd. The train trip was organized to recognize the Toronto Maple Leafs entering their 75th NHL season. On the train, along with the 1993 opening game roster, the Leafs invited manu of their alumni to join them
- Nicknamed "The Shawville Express", Frank Finnigan was an early NHL star with both Ottawa and Toronto, and was the last surviving member of the 1927 Stanley Cup champion Senators
