- 1881 Guelph Ontario Horse Racing Program Canadian Rare Turf Club Hosted Queens Plate In 1984. For a period of time, the Queens Plate was held at different race courses around Ontario. The Guelph race course was at the Central Exhibition Grounds. Now known as exhibition Park where Guelph Turf club held regular race meets. George Sleeman owned race horses and was former president of the Turf club. A vestige of this track remains as the inner road at the park that parallels Exhibition street
