- September 8th, 1917 vintage original type 1 photo of Edgar Laplante, con-man who impersonated Canadian running legend Tom Longboat
- From 1916-1917, Edgar Laplante claimed to be Tom Longboat, profiting off of his continued celebrity as Longboat was an active soldier in the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF)
- Issued by Underwood and Underwood and captioned with the impression that the pictured Laplante was actually Longboat
- LOA provided by RMY Auctions - however, the auction house was unaware of the history with Laplante, and described the photo as Longboat
- Measurements: 8" x 10"
- Very good condition; some surface creasing, pinholes from editorial use, corner and edge wear, some material loss around border, paper caption on back, photographers stamp on back
