- Imperial Oil is a Canadian petroleum company, and supplies Esso-brand service stations. From 1934 and onwards (until 1976) Imperial Oil was a sponsor for CBC and Hockey Night in Canada, leading to the creation of their schedule
- The 1937-38 NHL season was the 21st in the National Hockey League's existence. In the Stanley Cup Final the Chicago Black Hawks bested the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-1 in the series to win the trophy. The season's MVP was Eddie Shore of the Boston Bruins, and the leading scorer was Gordie Drillon of the Maple Leafs
