- This was the first race governed by the United States Automobile Club, after AAA withdrew from Auto Racing the previous year
- The race is known as "Cagle's Miracle," due to the massive cleanup efforts by Indianapolis Motor Speedway superintendent Clarence Cagle after torrential downfall the night before
- Very good condition; some light surface creasing on front and a notable but light vertical folding crease in the middle. Some paper loss along the perforated edge
