- Nine-time First-Team NHL All-Star and two-time Second-Team All-Star
- Three-time scoring Champion, 1965 Hart Trophy winner as NHL MVP, and 1961 Stanley Cup Champion with the Blackhawks
- One of the first players to score 600 career NHL goals, and along with son Brett, the only father and son to have both hit the mark
- Also one of the first major stars of the World Hockey Association, winning two Gordie Howe Awards as WHA MVP with the Winnipeg Jets
- Scored 604 goals, 1153 points for Chicago across 15 NHL seasons, while adding six more goals and 17 more points in 27 additional NHL games for the Jets and Hartford Whalers
- Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983
