- A two-time Hart Trophy winner as NHL MVP, and four-time Art Ross Trophy winner as NHL scoring champion
- 1961 Stanley Cup Champion with the Blackhawks
- Six-time First-Team NHL All-Star, two-time Second-Team All-Star, twice winner of the Lady Byng Trophy as the NHL's most genltemanly player, and member of Team Canada at the 1972 Canada-Russia Summit Series
- Born in what was then the Slovak Republic, moving to St. Catherine's Ontario at eight years old
- Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983, Mikita died in 2018 at the age of 78
