- Former all-time leader in NHL Goaltending wins and shutouts
- Named one of the NHL's greatest 100 players ever by the league in 2017
- Maple Leafs, coming off three consecutive Stanley Cup Championships, lose in playoffs to eventual Champion Montreal Canadiens
- Terry Sawchuk was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1971, and died in 1970 at the age of 40
- Topps hockey cards at the time were made in conjunction with O-Pee-Chee
- Very good condition; notably off-centre with some light corner creasing and some surface scratching as well as some very light handling wear along the edges. Listed condition is not a professional grading.
