- Willis Reed was the reigning NBA Finals MVP after his Knicks defeated the Los Angeles Lakers four games to one the previous May
- Also an interview with Stanford Cardinals Basketball star Rich Kelley, who would go on to play over a decade in the NBA, primarily for the New Orleans Jazz
