- The 1975–76 Winnipeg Jets season was the Jets' fourth season of operation in the World Hockey Association (WHA). After qualifying first in the Canadian Division, the Jets then proceeded to win three rounds of the playoffs to win their first Avco Cup, sweeping the Houston Aeros 4–0 in the final
- Bobby Hull was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is regarded as one of the greatest of all time. During his 23 year playing career, from 1957 to 1980, he played in both the National Hockey League (NHL) and World Hockey Association (WHA) with the Chicago Black Hawks, Winnipeg Jets, and Hartford Whalers. He won the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player 2 times, the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL's leading point scorer 3 times, led the NHL in goals 7 times, while helping the Black Hawks win the Stanley Cup in 1961. He was rightfully inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983
