- Dale Murphy was a star MLB outfielder and catcher best known for the Atlanta Braves, also playing for the Philadelphia Phillies. A two-time NL MVP (1982, 1983), seven-time All-Star, five-time Gold Glove winner, and four-time Silver Slugger winner, he was a key figure in the Braves’ 1980s resurgence.
- Ernie Whitt was a longtime MLB catcher best known for the Toronto Blue Jays, also playing for the Atlanta Braves. A six-time All-Star, he helped lead the Blue Jays to multiple playoff appearances in the 1980s and is considered one of the franchise’s all-time best catchers.
- Lance Parrish was a power-hitting MLB catcher primarily for the Detroit Tigers, also playing for the Philadelphia Phillies, California Angels, Seattle Mariners, and Toronto Blue Jays. A three-time All-Star, eight-time Gold Glove winner, and 1984 World Series champion, he was a standout catcher of the 1980s.
