- Mario Lemieux is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who spent his entire 17 season career in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He is regarded to be one of the greatest hockey players of all time, winning 2 Stanley Cups as a player and 3 as an owner, won the Hart Trophy as the league's MVP 3 times, was the points leader 6 times, and is second in points per game average (with nearly two per game) behind only Wayne Gretzky. He was so dominant that the Hockey Hall of Fame waived its three year waiting period and inducted him immediately after he retired in 1997, and he became the third player to play after being inducted when he returned. With Canada he won a plethora of medals, as they won gold in the 2004 World Cup, the 2002 Olympic Games, and in the Canada Cup
