- The 1987 World Women’s Ice Hockey Tournament was the 1st major international championship and was held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
- The Ontario Women's Hockey Association (OWHA) hosted the event at the North York Centennial Arena with 7 teams participated: Canada, USA, Ontario, Sweden, Switzerland, Japan, and Holland.
- Team Canada defeated Team Ontario 4-0 in the championship game to take the gold

- Excellent condition; from of medal has some oxidization otherwise minimal signs of visible handling use
