- Murray began his Major League career with a 12 year run with the Orioles, primarily as a First Baseman, before being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1988
- Orioles had re-acquired Murray in a trade with the Cleveland Indians just prior to baseball's non-waiver trade deadline
- Murray was the 1977 AL Rookie of the Year, an eight-time All-Star, the 1981 American League leader in both Home Runs and RBI, and a World Series Champion with the 1983 Orioles
- Murray was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003
