- The finals was a best-of-3 series between Canada and the United States. The US defeated Canda in the second game by the score of 5-2 after losing the first game 4-3 in OT. In game 3 the US would claim the inaugural World Cup Championship scoring 4 unanswered goals in the 3rd period to win by the score of 5-2 again. USA goaltender Mike Richter named MVP
