- Dick Butkus was an American football linebacker, sports commentator, and actor. He played football for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL) from 1965 to 1973. He was invited to eight Pro Bowls in nine seasons, and named a first-team All-Pro five times (photo from October 7, 1970)
- Sonny Jurgensen is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback for 18 seasons, playing for the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1983 (photo from November 2, 1972)
- Chuck Foreman is an American former professional football player who was a running back for the Minnesota Vikings and the New England Patriots. Foreman started in three Super Bowls with the Vikings and was the premiere back for the team for most of the 1970s (photo from January 19, 1974)
- Junior Seau was an American professional football linebacker who played in the National Football League (NFL), mostly with the San Diego Chargers. He was elected posthumously to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015 (photos shows him + others, from January 2, 1993)
