- Gordie Howe was a Canadian professional hockey player who spent 26 seasons in the National Hockey League, 25 of which were with the Detroit Red Wings. Nicknamed "Mr. Hockey," he is one of the greatest to play the game, scoring 801 goals and recording 1,049 assists (both records unmatched until Wayne Gretzky). He was a 23 time all star, holds the record for most seasons played in the NHL, won the Art Ross trophy 6 times, won the Hart Memorial Trophy as MVP 6 times, won 4 Stanley Cups with the Detroit Red Wings, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972
- Alex Delvecchio is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who spent his entire NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings. In his 24 seasons he played 1,549 games and recorded 1,281 points. When he retired he was second in points, assists, and games played, and was the coach/general manager of the Red Wings following his playing career. This rightfully earned him an induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1977
