Pin and ribbon sold at the game to honour Morenz's sudden passing on March 8, 1937 after suffering an injury in a January 29th, game vs Chicago Blackhawks. Proceeds from the night were presented to the Morenz family. The game played the night before the opening of the 1937/39 NHL season schedule featured an all star team made of Canadiens and Maroons players vs an all star team made up of players from other teams in the NHL.
