- Broda was a Canadian ice hockey goaltender and coach
- He played his entire career with the Toronto Maple Leafs between 1936 and 1951 (with a hiatus in between to fight in the Second World War)
- He won 5 Stanley Cups and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1967
