- Photo depicts Mathewson selling Christmas seals for the Tuberculosis Association to the Mayor of New York City John Hylan. Mathewson would sadly pass 3 years later from the very same disease a symptom of the chemical warfare Mathewson endured during his tour of World War I.

- Great condition; visible ruffling along the bottom edge where paper caption is affixed to the back. Small paper loss in bottom right corner. Some scratching near the bottom edge and a surface scratch on the image over Mathewson’s right hand. Tape in the corners on the back (aside from the top right corner) in along the top edge at the centre. Overall well preserved for its age
